No release for Nintendo Switch
In an interesting interview by Games Industry with THQ Nordic's Reinhard Pollice it is being mentioned that Elex most likely won't be released for Nintendo's newest console. The game is "just too demanding right now" for Nintendo's Hardware, which is hardly surprising.
Although this statement doesn't exclude a Switch version completely, it also makes little hope. It is "a bit sad" that Nintendo hasn't chosen faster hardware. Further topics in the interview are the general orientation of THQ Nordic and the legacy of the brand name "THQ".

Piranha Bytes about the console versions
At E3, Wccftech have asked Piranha Bytes about the console versions of Elex. According to their article, the Playstation 4 version will run in a resolution of 1920x1080 pixels (Full HD), while the resolution on Xbox isn't determined yet. The framerate will likely be limited to 30fps, which hasn't officially been confirmed though. Elex is going to get adjustments for PS4 Pro and Xbox One X, but PB isn't certain whether they can integrate them for release, or only later.
According to Wccftech, PB is very confident the PS4 Pro version will run in native 4k resolution, and it's safe to assume the same will be true for the Xbox One X version as well. (With a look at the theoretical performance of the PS4 Pro we want to doubt this a little though.) About the Xbox One X Piranha Bytes also said that it's a good console which is cheap for the hardware it offers. However, it's questionable whether players want to pay so much for a console, especially should Sony decide to reduce the price of the PS4 Pro.

Elex will require Steam
At Elex' product page on german Amazon it's already stated and now Michael Rüve from Piranha Bytes also confirms in the official forums that the retail version of Elex will require Steam. While the forum post is only about the Collector's Edition, it's safe to assume the Steam requirement is true for the standard version as well.
With this Elex moves away from the Risen 3 course to offer the disc version DRM-free. If you don't like the Steam requirement, you have the option to buy Elex on Gog.com DRM-free however.

Elex at E3 2017
On the official Facebook page about Elex, yesterday it was announced that the game will be presented at E3 this year, which takes place from 13th to 15th of this month in Los Angeles. The post promises "important announcements", but it's unknown what they mean exactly and in which form Elex will presented there.
A THQ Nordic booth is likely, but Elex could be presented at the PC Gaming Show as well. Also this year not only journalists will be able to attend E3, but 15.000 ordinary people as well for the first time in over 10 years.
