With Piranha Bytes hinting their new project's reveal very soon, there is sound reason to believe that the veteran developer may be working with Nordic Games to produce a brand new IP, called ELEX. Check out Piranha Bytes' teaser, as well as the mysterious count-down by Nordic Games, below!

In a press release, ELEX has been officially confirmed as the new project by Piranha Bytes, in collaboration with Nordic games.

The game will be released on PC, Xbox One and PS4, sometime in the winter of 2016/2017.

Nordic Games teams up with Piranha Bytes to work on their first collaborative project. The open-world roleplay game ELEX is scheduled to release in Winter 2016/2017 on PC and current gen console platforms: www.ELEXgame.com “Apart from being enthusiastic about the cooperation with Nordic Games, it is great to know, that we will have ample creative freedom with ELEX, which is a very important factor for us” said Björn Pankratz, Game Director at Piranha Bytes. "We can't wait to show you a completely new game experience with a fresh setting, new assets and plenty of possibilities.” ELEX is a handcrafted action role-playing experience from the award-winning creators of the Gothic series, set in a brand new post-apocalyptic science fantasy universe that puts players into a huge, seamless game world full of original characters, mutated creatures, deep moral choices and powerful action.

As we have shared on our Facebook Page, thanks to the detecive work by our forum members ravenhearth and eddievedder, the following clues come to light:

  1. The image shared by PB yesterday and the background image from website fit almost perfectly.
  2. Piranha Bytes and Nordic Games have a great working relation, the latter being the current publisher for the Gothic games.
  3. Lars Wingefors (CEO of Nordic Games) liked PB's binary picture.
  4. THQ, owned by Nordic, promoted ELEX on their page.
  5. The blurred logo on ELEX website was incredibly similar to PB's logo. After that was noticed, it was replaced by the logo of the defunct company named Vigil Games, owned again by NG, it seems as a messure to keep the secret.
