World of Elex wishes a Merry Christmas!
We wish you a beautiful christmas time!
2016 has been a very successful year for World of Elex. We did not just start the website to the middle of the year, to give you all the information about Piranha Bytes' newest game, but also were able to increase our reach. We have written over hundred news and saw thousands of visitors. But all of this wouldn't be possible without your tremendous interest and your willingness to discussion.
Because of that, we want to thank all the visitors of World of Elex! We are also grateful to the kind men and women of Piranha Bytes as well as THQ Nordic! We hope that 2017 will be a good year for all of us and we're looking forward to Elex' release with confidence.
In this sense: Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

New Screenshots!
On Steam six new screenshots of Elex have been released. The new images show the region Abessa again, which is known from the demo at Gamescom, but also show new insights into other landscapes of the game and a completely new monster. Besides, the screenshots seem to have a sharpening filter applied which makes them look slightly different than the game itself. You can see all screenshots by clicking on "Read more".

Preview and Interview by RPG Codex
RPG Codex have released a preview of Elex as well as an interview with Björn and Jenny from Piranha Bytes. RPG Codex had the opportunity to play the game and to talk with the developers at Gamescom in August. The two editors got different impressions of the game in the process. While the first one thinks the game looks mediocre, the other one got a more positive impression. Among others, the combat system is being criticised:
The demo certainly didn't make me feel optimistic about the game. The version in the public hands-on booth was a very early, very rough pre-alpha version; I'm not sure if it was a smart idea to make it available to the public [video here]. I'm struggling to say anything good about my gameplay experience; the controls felt clunky both in and out of combat, the animations were bad enough to be distracting, the AI seemed rudimentary at best, and there were only minimal opportunities to talk to people.
On the other hand it is stated:
This time, it looks like Piranha Bytes learned their lesson and are going back to the design principles that led to their success and fame. The world is going to be seamless and open again. There are different factions you can join, each focusing on a different playstyle (technology, melee combat, magic). Exploration is free and unrestricted, you can go anywhere you want and nothing is off limits. [...] This is pretty much Gothic with Guns. And it is the game that will have to show the world that Piranha Bytes still got it. After the disappointing sequels to Risen, they have to prove that they can still work the same kind of magic that made the Gothics so great.
In the interview the Piranhas talk about other aspects of their game and their ambitions for Elex. They made sure to offer a believable world despite the science-fantasy setting and they took into account many wishes from the community. The whole interview can be found at RPG Codex.

The team of World of Elex introduces itself
It took a while, but now - even after some personnel changes - the page "About" is finally online (you can find the link at the bottom of every site as well). There you can find all hard-working people who contribute to World of Elex, be it the website or the forum, the technology or social media. This is accompanied by many small changed and updates which we have made to the website in the last couple of days, as you may have already noticed. And we'll keep updating our content and work on the design of the website and forums in the future as well. Stay tuned!
