Surprisingly, THQ Nordic has announced in a press release that the publisher acquired Elex developer Piranha Bytes. Thus Piranha Bytes becomes a subsidiary of THQ Nordic. All brands of Piranha Bytes, i.e. Gothic, Risen and Elex, are now owned by THQ Nordic. However, the acquisition isn't supposed to result in any major changes. Piranha Bytes will continue to develop in Essen, there should be no personnel changes and Nordic promises Piranha Bytes full creative freedom for the future. Elex 2 is also briefly mentioned in the press release. There it says in a semi-official comment: "Have a guess."
